Día 5, miércoles / Day 5, Wednesday, 28.09.2001

Hoy fue un día con mucho calor. Empezamos el día con ir a la Universidad de Barcelona. La universidad fue interesante y muy bonito porque tenía jardines bonitos también.

Después, fuimos a El Corte Inglés en Pl. Catalunya. Es un edificio muy grande con nueve plantas gigantes. Fuimos también a visitar La Pedrera de Antonio Gaudí. Fue arquitectónicamente fabuloso. ¡Visitamos también un piso de este edificio y fue realmente único! Luego fuimos al parque de la Ciutadella y nos relajamos allí dos horas para comer y hablar con nuestros compañeros.

Fuimos al Camp Nou también para visitarlo. Fue una experiencia única ver el estadio del mejor equipo del mundo: FC Barcelona. ¡Ahora estamos todos en nuestras casas y estamos listos para un nuevo día mañana!

Today was a very warm day. We begun the day by going to the University of Barcelona. The university itself was interesting and nice also, because the gardens were beautiful and full of nature.

After that we went to visit "El Corte Ingles" (a type of Bijenkorf) in Pl. Catalunya. It's a very large building with 9 gigantic stories.

We also went to visit "La Pedrera"of Antonio Gaudi. It was architecturally fabulous! We also visited one apartment in this building and it was very unique!

After that we went to the "Parc de la Ciutadella" and we relaxed there for two hours to eat and talk to our mates.

We also went to Camp Nou to visit it. It was a unique experience to see the stadion of the best club in the world: FC Barcelona.

Now we are all in our houses and we are ready for a brand new day tomarrow!

Día 4, martes / Day 4, Tuesday, 27.09.2011

Barcelona es una ciudad muy famosa y grande. En la ciudad hay muchas actividades, también hay mucha historia.

Ayer nosotros fuimos en el Teleférico y a un museo de Miró. Miró es un artista moderno y abstracto. Después, fuimos al Estadio Olímpico. Fue divertido porque vimos muchas huellas de pie de deportistas famosos.

Luego, visitamos el Pueblo Español. En él hay edificios característicos y de arquitectura variada. Hicimos trabajo en el cuadernillo sobre el Pueblo.

Finalmente, fuimos a un centro comercial que se llama "Las Arenas", que hace varios años era una plaza de toros. Por la noche, todos los estudiantes se reunieron con sus familias y cenaron con ellos.

Barcelona is a very famous and big city. There is a lot to do and learn about its history.

Yesterday we went with the cable car and then to a museum dedicated to the famous artist Joan Miró. He is a modern art painter and sculptor. From the museum we walked to the Olympic Stadion, that was used in 1992 for the Olympic Games. Leading up to the stadion there were many footprints on the ground of famous sportmen.

We also visited the "Pueblo Español" which is like a village with many Spanish houses and architecture common in Spain.

Lastly, we went to a shopping mall called "Las Arenas", which used to be a bullfighting arena. To end our day, we all went home with our host family and had a well deserved Spanish dinner.

Hoy empezamos el día con el Teleférico y una vista muy bonita de Barcelona. Después anduvimos al museo de Miró. Las pinturas y las estatuas del museo Miró son muy diferentes a las de los museos normales porque son abstractas.

En segundo lugar, visitamos el Estadio Olímpico, usado en 1992 para los Juegos Olímpicos. Después del estadio, visitamos el Pueblo Español. Es un lugar pequeño, donde los edificios representan partes diferentes de España.

En tercer lugar, visitamos los exteriores del Palau Nacional y escuchamos a un músico. Finalmente, fuimos a un centro comercial, situado en una antigua plaza de toros. El centro comercial era muy grande y tiene un cine, restaurantes y un supermercado.

Today we started the day with the cable car and a nice view of Barcelona. After that, we walked to the Museum Miró. The paintings and sculptures are very different than those in other musea because they are abstract.

Secondly, we visited the Spanish Villaged. It is a small place where the building represent different parts of Spain.

Thirdly, we visited the sorroundings of the Palau Nacional and we listened to a musician. Finally, we went to a mall, situated in a former bullfighting arena. The shopping center was big and it has a movie theater, restaurants and a restaurant.

Día 3, lunes / Day 3, Monday, 26.09.2011

Por la mañana, nos encontramos con el resto del grupo enfrente del Hard Rock café en Pl. Catalunya. Después, nos sentamos en los peldaños de las escaleras en Pl. Catalunya donde trabajamos en nuestro cuadernillo.

Fuimos andando al Mercado de la Boquería, donde nosotros visitamos las tiendas. En el mercado venden fruta, carne y pescado.

Después fuimos al barrio de El Born, que es un barrio muy artístico. Allí visitamos la iglesia de Santa Maria del Mar y vimos el Mercado de El Born y el Museo Picasso.

Por la tarde, después de nuestro almuerzo, fuimos a la playa. En la playa nadamos y jugamos a la pelota. También tomamos el sol. Estuvimos en la playa hasta las ocho y tomamos el metro para llegar a Pl. Catalunya, donde nos encontramos con nuestras familias y volvimos a casa. En casa, comimos arroz con pollo y patatas y después hicimos nuestros deberes y nos fuimos a dormir.

In the morning we met up at Plaza de Catalunya. Then we sat on the stairs to work on our booklet. We went to the market 'Mercado de la Boqueria' and had to do an assignment. The group was mostly excitedto go to the beach and have a relaxing day. First we visited the church 'Santa Maria del Mar'. We were able to look inside the church and it was very interesting. After that we were finally able to go to the beach and we were able to relax for the rest of the day; tanning, swimming and playingbeach sports.

Hoy nos despertamos temprano y fuimos al punto de encuentro. Fuimos en metro. Después, fuimos a un gran mercado, donde tuvimos que trabajar en nuestros cuadernillos.

Luego, fuimos al barrio de El Born y almorzamos en una plaza. Después, fuimos a una iglesia que era bastante grande y paseamos una hora.

A continuación, estuvimos seis horas en la playa, que fue muy divertido. Después, nos reunimos con nuestras familias. Fuimos a un teatro para ver cantar a nuestra anfitriona y luego regresamos bastante tarde a casa.

Today we got up early and traveled with our host to the meeting point via the metro. Then after the whole group got together, we walked until we reached this huge market. The market was full of diverse things. There we had to fill out our task in our yellow booklet.

After the market we went to little town plaza, where we had lunch, also outside.

We visited a church which was quite big.

Then we walked around for about an hour to finally got to the beach where we stayed four to six hours.

We left the beach at 8:15 to meet again with the host families. We went home and then got to go to a musical to see our hostess sing. We got home quite late and went to bed.

Día 2, domingo / Day 2, Sunday, 25.09.2011

A las once fuimos a la Plaza de Catalunya. Paseamos un poco y fuimos a la Plaza de Sant Jaume a ver los 'castellers', castillos humanos, pero había demasiada gente. Esperamos una hora porque había muchísima gente y no podíamos pasar.

Después fuimos al centro comercial Mare Mágnum. Es muy grande y hay muchas tiendas. Delante del centro comercial había una zona marítima muy grande y limpio, donde estaba el puerto de Barcelona. A continuación, paseamos por las Ramblas y nos empezamos a preparar para el Correfoc, pero antes del Correfoc fuimos a ver a los amantes del monopatín fuera del MACBA, el museo de arte contemporáneo de Barcelona.

El Correfoc es una celebración muy loca y divertida, pero un poco peligrosa si no vas vestido apropiadamente, ya que hay fuegos artificiales. La gente actúa y viste como el diablo. Al final me gustó el día, fue muy divertido.

At eleven o' clock we went to el plaza de catalunya. We then walked to the human castels, but it was to busy to get in. We waited an hour, because the police would not let anyone in.

After we went to a shopping mall, called "Mare Magnum'. It was huge and had lots of stores. In front of the mall was the sea, which was clean and big.

After the mall we walked to the Ramblas and prepared for El Correfoc.

El Correfoc was really crazy and fun!El Correfoc is a party with fireworks and people acting like devils. In the end it was a good day.

El segundo día del viaje en España, nos encontramos en la Pl. Catalunya. Despues, fuimos a Las Ramblas, una calle muy grande con muchos puestos que venden todo tipo de cosas.

Después, fuimos al centro comercial Mare Mágnum. Es un centro comercial muy grande. Tuvimos tiempos para explorarlo.

Por la noche participamos en el Correfoc. Es una fiesta española muy divertida donde un desfile de figuras echan fuego y personas con fuegos artificiales. Las chispas saltaban a la gente. Fue un buen final para el segundo día.

The second day of the trip we met up at Pl. Catalunya at 11 o'clock.We walked through Las Ramblas, a long street lined with stalls selling all kinds of things.

We walked over to the large shopping mall 'Mare Magnum'. We had time to explore 'Mare Magnum'. We walked back to the centre through Las Ramblas.

Evening came and we all participated in 'El Correfoc', a Spanish festivity where a parade of fire spitting dragons and people with fireworks spraying jets of fire at the public. This festivity brought the end to a great second day.

Día 1, sábado / Day 1, Saturday, 24.09.2011

Llegamos al aeropuerto de Eindhoven a las 11 a.m. Estábamos todos emocionados sobre el viaje. Viajamos en un avión que iba muy lleno. El vuelo duró dos horas. Llegamos al aeropuerto de El Prat, Barcelona, a las 15.00, y a las 17.00 nos reunimos con nuestras familias de acogida y fuimos con ellas en metro a nuestras casas, repartidas por varios barrios residenciales de Barcelona. En nuestra casa vive una señora viuda que se llama Joaquina. Cenamos sopa, pollo y patatas fritas, estaba todo muy rico.

Por la noche fuimos esta vez al centro de la ciudad, de nuevo en metro, cerca de la playa, donde había una feria. Era muy divertida y fuimos a grandes atracciones. También comimos muchos dulces, por ejemplo, churros.

Para terminar la noche, que fue increíble, vimos los fuegos artificiales en la playa de la Barceloneta. Lo pasamos muy bien. Desafortunadamente volvimos a las casas después de dejar al resto de los alumnos en sus casas.

We arrived at Eindhoven Airport at 11 a.m and we were all excited about the trip. Our aeroplane was full, and the flight took 2 hours. We arrived at El Prat Airport, in Barcelona, at 15h, and inmediately met up with our host families and returned to their houses in different residential neighbourhoods in Barcelona by metro. We were with a kind woman called Joaquina. Our dinner consisted of soup, fries and chicken, which was very tasty. We used the metro again, we then returned to the city centre, close to the beach. There we went to a fair. We went in the tall, fast rides, and ate sweet specialties such as 'churros'. To finish the night,, we sat on the beach and watched Barcelona's fireworks.

Mañana iniciamos el viaje a España de los estudiantes de español de ISE (International School Eindhoven). En esta séptima edición, vamos a pasar una semana en Barcelona, entre el sábado 23 y el viernes 30 de septiembre.
